Aguilar repays coaches’ trust with strong showing
FROM being undrafted to one of the leading scorers for Blackwater, Raymond Aguilar is perhaps among the few players to live up the dream of playing in the PBA despite not getting signed in their rookie year.
The 31-year old Aguilar has been a pretty solid front-liner for Blackwater in the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup, repaying the trust and confidence given to him by his team.
“Okay naman, maganda naman yung kumpyansa na binibigay sakin ng mga coaches. So ayun sinusuklian ko naman ng maganda,” Aguilar said.
The 6-foot-5 Aguilar topscored for Elite with 15 markers, 3 boards and 2 assists in their 107-93 defeat to Rain or Shine on Friday at the Araneta Coliseum.
When asked about his splendid shooting, Aguilar said that he was just making most of the open looks.
“Wala, tsambalang talaga. Nagshooting lang talaga kami kahapon, kung ano yung normal n inagawa. Nahuhulog lang talaga yung mgatira. Saka panira na talaga eh, na shoot naman. Awa ng Diyos,” Aguilar, who made 5 of his 7 attempts in 15 minutes of play, said.
The former National University standout had short stint with TNT before playing for the Fighting Maroons in the PBA D-League then eventually finding his way back to the Asia’s first ever play-for-pay league. John Onofre Andres
