Star seeks entry into q’finals
Star seeks to formally gain entry to the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals as it takes on Meralco on Saturday at Ynares Center in Antipolo.
The Hotshots, currently at 5-4, are coming off a 111-95 win over Blackwater last Wednesday, and a victory would clinch them a seat in the playoffs.
More importantly, if Star nabs win number six, it will be a huge boost for the team and keeps it in play from closing in for that coveted top two spot.
Banking on their back-to-back wins, Hotshots coach Chito Victolero is taking a positive outlook as he looks forward to these final two outings.
“I told them na ito na yung start ng playoffs namin. I know the boys are mentally tough. They’re veterans and I can see that even in practice, they have a sense of urgency while enjoying ourselves,” he said.
“Hopefully sa susunod naming games madala namin yung consistency namin on defense.”
Meralco, however, remains a tough nut to crack as coach Norman Black necessitates his wards to show some fight in this last hame and improve its 3-7 card.
Game time is at 3 p.m.
