Marcio Lassiter hit his first shot of the night just 27 seconds into the game, and that 3-pointer turned out to be a sign of things to come.

Lassiter, one of the deadliest shooters in the PBA today, set the tone for San Miguel by pouring 12 of his team-high 22 points in the first quarter where the Beermen gained control early en route to a 111-98 win over TNT in Game 1 of their semifinals series.

“I wanted to get aggressive and get going early. It wasn’t part of the plan but I just wanted to be aggressive and I got going early in the first quarter that helped me throughout the game,” said the veteran swingman.

The 29-year-old Lassiter helped San Miguel build an 18-point lead in the second quarter and when TNT battled back, he also provided timely baskets to weather the storm.

“Hopefully I can keep it up. Just being aggressive, we’ll see how Talk ‘N Text plays defense in the next game,” he said.

Lassiter went 8-of-13 from the field, including 4-of-7 from downtown. His steady shooting also opened up more scoring opportunities for the Beermen, who drew a balanced attack having six players scoring at least nine points.

San Miguel also buried 16 out of their 26 attempts from long range as TNT never had an answer for the Beermen’s unpredictable offense game.
