Fans have been comparing the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters to the Alaska Aces in the ongoing PBA Philippine Cup Finals.

Many observers think that Alaska matched well with Talk n’ Text, tying the series twice before losing Games 5 and 6 of the best-of-7 semis.

In fact, many pundits claim that Alaska played better defense on Talk n’ Text, it’s just that the Aces fell prey to their lack of cohesion in the end game. Rain or Shine likewise couldn’t get its act together in the final minutes of the first three games of the title series.

But for Alaska’s assistant coach and defense strategist Louie Alas, Talk n’ Text is edging out Rain or Shine because of their long developed chemistry and camaraderie.

“Walang nabago sa depensa ng Rain or Shine, talagang lamang lang sa cohesion at experience yung Talk n’ Text. Pansinin mo maski hindi sila nakatingin alam nila kung nasan yung isa’t isa,” said Alas, who joined head coach Luigi Trillo on the Alaska bench before the season started.

The 3-time NCAA champion coach , however, believes that RoS coach Yeng Guiao won’t give up without a fight.

Alas stressed that the character of coach Yeng will definitely come out in Game 4 on Wednesday as he rallies his wards to a tough battle as Talk n’ Text bids for a sweep.

“Hindi sila (TNT) nakaka-siguro sa Rain or Shine, dyan mo makikita yung character ni Coach Yeng, Hindi mag-gi-give up nang basta-basta yan si Coach Yeng,” said Alas without giving a concrete answer if a 4-0 conquest is possible or not for Talk n’ Text.
