GLOBALPORT TWEAKS LINEUP
In their continuing efforts to turn their fortunes around, the GlobalPort Batang Pier again made some manpower changes.
Just minutes after GlobalPort dropped a heartbreaker to San Miguel Beer at the Mall of Asia Arena Tuesday night, PBA commissioner Chito Salud approved the two-on-two trade between the Batang Pier and the San Mig Coffee Mixers.
The deal calls for veteran slotman Yancy De Ocampo moving over to GlobalPort along with fellow Mixer Val Acuña for sophomore Yousef Taha and bruiser Ronnie Matias.
Wednesday morning, another trade was approved, with the Batang Pier acquiring scoring machine Ronjay Buenafe and a 2015 second round Draft pick from Barako Bull in exchange for Nico Salva and Bonbon Custodio.
With the recent movements, GlobalPort will now have a veteran presence in the middle, with the 6-9 de Ocampo bringing over his championship experience to the squad. On the other hand, San Mig Coffee injected young blood to its frontline as the Grand Slam seeking Mixers look towards the future.
The Batang Pier also added another offensive option in Buenafe, who has not been getting the minutes lately with the Energy like he used to. At GlobalPort, he is expected to have an immediate impact on offense. (SBadua)
