Looking for relief down low, Barangay Ginebra has acquired the services of veteran center Dorian Peña.

The Office of the Commissioner approved the three-team trade between the Kings, San Miguel and Barako Bull on Tuesday noon with the three squads swapping big men.

The Beermen received JayR Reyes in the transaction while dealing away seldom-used center Justin Chua to the Energy.

FEATURED STORIES

The wide-bodied 37-year-old Peña, who sat out most of the Philippine Cup due to injury, will beef up Ginebra’s frontline after the Kings fell into a 0-2 hole early in the Commissioner’s Cup.

Peña is expected to mentor young big guys Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar in the Ginebra camp.

Reyes, 30, will be joining his sixth team in nine years after spending his last two seasons with Ginebra.

He averaged 3.2 points and 3.4 rebounds in just eight minutes for the Kings last Philippine Cup, and will be a big help for the Beermen frontline of June Mar Fajardo, Doug Kramer, and Rico Maierhofer.

The 25-year-old Chua will be playing for his third team in just two years in the PBA, as he joins Dave Marcelo, Jake Pascual, and Philip Paredes in Barako Bull.

As part of the deals, Ginebra got a 2015 second round pick from Barako Bull while the Energy acquired the Beermen’s 2017 first round pick. (RL)
