When Christmas season rolls around, PBA players often receive plenty of gifts whether from friends and family or from fans. Usually they’ll get greeting cards or hand-made scrapbooks. Sometimes, however, the gifts can get a little weird.

Take for example Rain or Shine swingman Gabe Norwood.

“One gift that really stood out for me was a 70s electric American football set,” he shared. “It was given to me when there was already video games out, and it vibrates wildly. I think me and my brother played it once and never touched it again.”

“Nagulat ako kasi binigyan ako dati ng DVD ng motivational speaker. May mga songs at libro, mga ganung tipo,” San Miguel Beer’s Arwind Santos chimed in.

For Raymond Almazan, the present he received was on a whole new level of strange.

“Dati, binigyan ako ng condom na may ballpen. Di ko nga alam kung bakit eh,” the Painters’ lanky center recalled.

Sophomore guard Jericho Cruz received a rather sweet one from a fan.

“Nakatanggap ako dati ng cupcake na may note na ‘I Love You’ sa taas,” he said.

Some gifts, however, just don’t make sense at all.

“May nagregalo sa akin dati ng kaldero,” Cyrus Baguio recalled. “Pang-asar yata nung high school sa exchange gift. Di ko alam, baka walang budget.”

Still, very few can top the present Calvin Abueva got.

Apparently, the Alaska forward, known for his on-court antics and for always egging the crowd, has strongly earned the ire of fans that they can’t help but vent it all out on him – even when it’s Christmas.

“Nabati ako dati ng Christmas, tapos minura ako,” Abueva shared the memory with a hearty laugh.
