Blackwater snares inagural PBA Women’s 3-on-3 title
Blackwater emerged as the inaugural champion in the Dickies-PBA Women’s 3-on-3 Tournament after it turned back Ginebra, 7-3, to sweep the best-of-3 Finals series Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Allana Lim captained the Elite with four points as Blackwater jumped to an insurmountable 6-0 start.
Camille Sambile added two markers, while France Mae Cabinbin scored one as the Elite kept a clean slate for the rest of the tournament.
“Masaya kami at thankful kasi may mga ganitong liga,” said Lim.
Blackwater raced to an early 6-0 lead before Bernardine Rose Yamamoto got Ginebra on the board. But it was a case of too little too late as Angeli Gloriani muffed what could have been a big two-pointer in the clutch as the Elite snared the title.
“Overall, masaya naman kami. Sana makita nila na di lang sa mga lalaki yung may career sa basketball. Sa mga babae din,” Lim said.
Yamamoto led Ginebra with two points, while Mary Joy Galicia scored the other marker in the losing effort.
