Player of the Week: Semerad steps up with career game for GlobalPort
Anthony Semerad earned his very first Accel-PBA Press Corps Player of the Week following his career game on Sunday in GlobalPort’s thrilling 126-123 double overtime win against Meralco.
The 6-foot-4 Semerad, an underrated shooter, became the unlikely hero after burying a corner go-ahead, three-point shot off a Stanley Pringle pass with 14 seconds left to play.
The Batang Pier then held the Bolts scoreless in the next possession to finally punch their first win after a 0-4 start in the PBA Governors Cup.
The other half of the Semerad twins finished the game with a career-best 24 points, spiked by six three-pointers on the way to earning his first Player of the Week citation for the period of Aug. 8-14, beating San Miguel Beer’s June Mar Fajardo, TNT rookie Troy Rosario, NLEX’s Garvo Lanete and Phoenix veteran Cyrus Baguio.
The former San Beda forward currently averages 9.0 points and 1.75 rebounds for the PBA Governors Cup. (RD)
