Nash Racela declined offer to take the head-coaching chores at Globalport, opting to stay at Talk n Text and at the same time keep his commitment with the FEU Tamaraws.

“Di ko na pinaabot sa management namin (at Talk n Text). Nag-decide na ako,” said Racela on his decision not to come aboard at Globalport.

“Number one, alam kong may contract pa si coach Junel (Baculi). Baka sabihin inahas ko,” Racela also said.

FEATURED STORIES

Racela, who’s long been serving as assistant coach in the PBA, together with brother Olsen and Alaska’s Alex Compton, was considered to take over from Baculi.

He was first approached by Globalport while he was with the Talk n Text Tropang Texters in their boot camp in Las Vegas.

He again got a call from the Globalport management Thursday night.

“I also considered my commitment with FEU,” said Racela on his decision not to move over to the Batang Pier camp.

At posting time, it’s still uncertain who will end up calling the shots for the Batang Pier in PBA Season 39 beginning Nov. 17.

The Alaska management earlier said they’re not letting Compton to rescind their contract.

According to reliable sources, Racela and Compton were Globalport’s top choices to replace Baculi.

Globalport first acquired from the PBA Rookie Draft FEU stars RR Garcia and Terrence Romeo then also brought over to the Batang Pier camp FEU assistant coaches Richie Ticzon and Eric Gonzales.

Those moves raised expectations Racela would be Globalport’s next acquisition.

Racela, however, respectfully said no. (SB)
