As the year changed, so have the fortunes of the San Mig Super Coffee Mixers.

Tim Cone and his boys have managed to ring in the new year with a three-game winning run, capped by a 112-93 drubbing of Petron Blaze last Wednesday.

And this is what Cone had been looking for all season long – the kind of fluid motion on the floor that enabled them to win the Governors’ Cup.

And right in the middle of it all is Peter June Simon, who had 20 points to lead the six other Super Coffee Mixers who logged in double digits.

Tama yung pagpe-peak namin papuntang playoffs.”

Though they started off slow, San Mig is now at 6-7, sitting at solo fifth and is just about to wrap up its elims sked with a game against Talk n Text.

And with momentum on their side, Simon and the Coffee Mixers can finally look at tomorrow in a positive light.

“Kumpleto na kami, tapos yung mga bago namin, nakaka-adapt na rin sa triangle,” he said.

He also emphasized the importance of every body understanding the triangle, more so that their coach wants nothing less than perfection on his system.

“Napaka-importante na lahat kami alam yung ginagawa namin, kasi pag may isa o dalawang nawawala, nahihirapan kami sa opensa at depensa. Lahat kasi may sistema.”

When pressed if he personally did anything during the holiday break to change their team’s direction, Simon gave a shocking answer.

“Di ako nagbreak,” he said.

(RL)
