IMPORT CHANGE BLESSING IN DISGUISE FOR ENERGY
Changing from one import to another might be a big headache for one team, but for Barako Bull coach Bong Ramos, it’s a problem he had to deal with even before the conference started.
After their original choice Dwayne Chism was discovered to have contractual problems in his last team in the Hungarian league, Ramos tapped Joshua Dollard to reinforce his Energy. And the coach likes what he sees in his new import.
“He can do many things for us,” Ramos said. “He can score face up or back to the basket. He can make a good pass if doubled.”
“He is a good rebounder, too. He can shoot inside and outside. He can run the floor on transition. He can bring the ball if the guards are denied, and he can take off the pressure from our guys.”
Ramos believes that Dollard is the type of player who can do a little bit of everything, which would greatly compliment their squad, as they no longer need the usual big men suited for an import.
“Yun ang kailangan namin para meron kaming scoring from our wings,” he added.
With his import looking like a reliable Swiss army knife, Ramos could only hope that this will be the start of Barako Bull’s journey back to the league’s elite. (RL)
