EL GRANADA IS ALL-STAR GAME MVP
Gary David emerged as the All-Star MVP Sunday as Gilas Pilipinas drubbed the PBA All-Stars, 101-93, in the 2014 PBA All-Star Game at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The sweet-shooting pride of Bataan had 15 points on 2-of-3 shooting from rainbow country in 20 minutes off the bench.
“Masaya na first time ko mag-MVP sa All-Star,” David said. “Mindset lang namin na maipanalo yung game against the PBA All-Stars, kasi pag natalo kami, alam mo naman, darating na naman yung mga critics kaya importante talaga sa amin na maipanalo yung game na to.”
Basically the first tuneup game for the national squad, David also hopes that the victory will be a good sign of things to come as they prepare for the World Cup of Basketball and the Asian Games.
“Magandang panimula sa amin ito,” he said.
Gilas coach Chot Reyes added his input on the impact of the game for the squad.
“It might just be one game, but it means a lot for us, and for the fans to see them (Gilas) even just for one game,” he said. (RL)
