PASCUAL GETTING READY FOR PHYSICAL PLAY IN THE PROS
Touted as one of the best big man in the guard-heavy rookie pool, Jake Pascual is just aching to bring his act to the pros.
“Focus lang. Hintayin na lang kung sino ang mag-draft sa akin. Kahit anong team naman, willing akong maglaro sa kanila. Gusto kong team, yung gagamitin ako para mapakinabangan naman nila ako,” he said.
The 25-year-old San Beda big man is just honored to be pegged as one of the possible top picks, but he believes that it’s just the timing of his entry which has sparked this debate.
“Na-timing lang siguro yung pagpasok ko this year kasi konti lang yung big men sa draft. Okay itong pagkakataon na ito at sana maganda ang kalabasan.”
The 6-foot-5 forward is also bringing with him a wealth of experience from his stint as a Gilas cadet, saying, “Malaking bagay sa akin yun at sana madala ko sa PBA. Every day na practice sa Gilas, nacha-challenge kami eh. Malalakas talaga sila at napapasama kami sa laro nila.”
Pascual admitted that the physical play in the PBA is very much different from that in the NCAA, but he is doing his best to get himself ready to bang bodies with the likes of June Mar Fajardo, Greg Slaughter, and Asi Taulava.
“Every practice, ginagawa ko yung 100-percent kasi hinahanda ko na yung body ko para sa PBA. I’m just preparing myself for the PBA.” (RL)
