TEEN HEARTTHROB DANIEL PADILLA PICKED BY AMA TITANS
Garnering more fanfare than those which picked ahead of them, the AMA Titans surprised everyone when they tabbed celebrity Daniel Padilla as the final selection in the 2014 PBA D-League Draft, picking the 19-year-old in the 15th round to end the event.
Padilla was a protected pick for AMA, with the Titans, a school-based squad, allowed to directly recruit students from their school.
Silencing doubts if the “Daniel Padilla” is just another player bearing the same name, D-League tournament director Eric Castro confirmed that it is the one and the same young heartthrob.
“Yes, siya yun. Eligible siya to play because he’s a student and an endorser of the school,” he said.
Padilla is said to be enrolled in AMA, but he still has to present proof of his enrollment if he decides to suit up in the D-League.
If he plays, Padilla will join the core of the Titans under coach Mark Herrera in the D-League Aspirants’ Cup, which opens on October 27. (RL)
