GINEBRA BATTLES MERALCO IN PANABO
Heckled by doubters for its six-year title drought, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel embarks on its long journey back to the top when the Kings face the Meralco Bolts Sunday in the PBA Liga ng Bayan Preseason Games at the Panabo City Tourism, Cultural, and Sports Center in Davao del Norte.
Motivated by their failures of the past season, coach Jeffrey Cariaso wants to fulfil the team’s promise and transform the cast of potent players into champions.
LA Tenorio and Japeth Aguilar, members of the Gilas Pilipinas squad, are expected to return to their mother ballclub led by last season’s Rookie of the Year Greg Slaughter, Mark Caguioa, Chris Ellis, and Mac Baracael.
Newly acquired Joseph Yeo is also expected to bring his daredevil drives to the Ginebra fold after an impressive outing against the Changwon LG Sakers in an exhibition game a month ago, while rookie Rodney Brondial tries to help the Kings’ frontline in the official start of his rookie season.
But they will be up against a Meralco crew which will have multi-titled coach Norman Black on the sidelines.
The Bolts will also be reinforced by the return of Gary David and Jared Dillinger as well as hardworking forwards Cliff Hodge and Sean Anthony in their lineup.
