No doubt about it, San Miguel is the hottest team in the league right now.

Racking up their sixth straight victory, the Beermen have rebounded from their early struggles and have now firmly placed themselves at the quarterfinals.

And it all starts with Arizona Reid.

FEATURED STORIES

The dread-locked reinforcement didn’t really come out smoking from the gates, but as he got the feel for the game as the conference wore on, he picked up his business and went off.

Reid finished with 30 points, 10 in the third and capped off by 13 in the payoff period, to go with his 10 rebounds and three assists in SMB’s 96-92 victory over NLEX on Friday.

“Personally, my first half was horrible. The second half was a lot of better, but it’s a team game,” he said, also praising his teammates for a job well done. “My teammates helped me and they played well. We got to focus, get our minds right, and get to the next game.”

At 6-2, San Miguel is on pace to snag one of the four coveted twice-to-beat edges in the quarterfinals.

But Reid doesn’t want the team to get too ahead of themselves.

“It’s a big win. But we should take it one game at a time,” he said. We just got to play hard, play better defense.”

The former Best Import awardee continued, “Tonight, our offense was kind of down because we didn’t make shots at the beginning. But we have to do a better job, and that starts with me doing a better job executing and making my shots and focusing more on getting better shots for the team.” (RL)
