TNT rookie Pogoy excited to play against ‘idols’ Yap, Hontiveros

After fulfilling his PBA dreams, TNT rookie Roger Pogoy couldn’t wait to matchup against his idols.
Pogoy said playing against the “man with a million moves” James Yap of Rain or Shine is something he looks forward to.
“Idol ko siya dati pa kasi ang dami niyang moves,” Pogoy said.
The young shooting guard added his kababayan Cebuano hotshot Dondon Hontiveros was also his childhood hero in basketball.
“Si Dondon din, idol ko din ‘yun.”
Unfortunately for Pogoy, Yap was still recuperating from a knee injury when the Elasto Painters and the KaTropa clashed last Wednesday. Rain or Shine won, 101-87.
The 24-year-old Pogoy, who helped Far Eastern University win the UAAP title last year, however, is excited with the opportunity to trade shots with Hontiveros when TNT takes on Alaska on Dec. 23.
Asked if he could reach the level of the players he looks up to, the Pogoy admitted he still has a lot of work to do. Jeremiah Sevilla
