TNT-ROS DUEL: PUSH WILL COME TO SHOVE
After final workout Tuesday for an anticipated brawl, the Talk n Text Tropang Texters and the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters both declared they’re ready to go hammer and tongs against one another.
For this is not just another series. This is a playoff between teams of stern stuff. It’s a battle where push will come to shove.
“We will play as physical as long as the referees will allow. Referees will decide kung tama na ba yung physicality,” said Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao, hinting at how rugged the battle can be.
PBA commissioner Chito Salud himself anticipates a battle, likening the TnT-RoS showdown to a Pacquiao-Marquez fight.
The league chieftain stressed one thing though: The two teams can play physical but unnecessary roughness won’t be permitted.
Salud said the refs won’t deviate from the officiating policy implemented from Day One of his commissionership.
“No touch fouls. The refs will call what is obvious and clear contact. This doesn’t permit unnecessary roughness,” Salud said.
“Officiating is not perfect as it is over time and time immemorial. But the refs will be unbiased and fair,” Salud added.
The good commissioner congratulated the Texters and the Elasto Painters for making the Finals and wished them luck in their fight for the championship.
“This is an opportunity for you guys to acquire the bragging rights of being the best all-Filipino team and solidify the PBA’s position as the premier sports entertainment event in the country. I wish you luck,” he said. (SB)
