He dunked, he rebounded, he blocked shots.
And to the surprise of no one, he did it silently.
Maybe that’s what Rob Dozier should be called – “The Silent Killer.”
In the wake of Alaska’s 83-73 win over Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Sunday, the defending Bobby Parks Best Import for the Commissioner’s Cup played the way the fans knew him, stealth, laid back, but deceivingly deadly.
“We’re excited. We’re winning again – that’s the best thing and I think in every game, we continue to get better,” Dozier said.
He finished with 22 points powered by a 10-point rampage in the third, alongside 16 rebounds and two blocks as the Aces scored their fourth straight win to improve to 5-3 and occupy solo third place.
It’s hard to believe that the former Memphis Tiger hasn’t played competitive basketball since he hoisted the Commissioner’s Cup trophy last year.
“I just play hard. I might be rusty in my first game here, but in the following games, I think I have gotten to a groove and I know the guys and the guys know me, so this time, it’s a lot easier,” Dozier said.
Despite the four-game winning run, Dozier knows that the Aces still have a lot of ground to cover.
“We’re not happy. We have a bigger goal and that’s the championship, but our focus is on the next game and the playoffs,” he said.
Alaska coach Luigi Trillo also reminded his boys of their goal.
