KIA governor Ginia Domingo came to the defense of Manny Pacquiao as the critics continue to hurl doubts on the eight division boxing world champion’s role in the Sorento’s maiden quest in the PBA.

“Sumama sa atin si coach Manny because he wants to live his dream. Passion nya yun since bata pa sya at gusto nya yun gawin,” she said.

Pacquiao will be KIA’s first head coach, aside from being the Sorento’s first ever pick in the pro league.

The president of the Columbian Autocar Corporation also said that as much as the draw Pacquiao brings to their squad, what matters at the end of the day is basketball.

“Yung pagpasok ni Manny is a big boost as far as branding and word of mouth sa basketball. But at the end of the day, it’s basketball. It’s not boxing,” she said.

And it also comes with another plus, as the KIA players share the court with somebody who is no stranger to winning, whose winner’s attitude they hope would eventually rub off on them.

“Manny Pacquiao is probably a source of inspiration, our secret to bringing fans to the games and taking the team to the championship. He’s an inspiring person as far as the team and the players are concerned. Pero malayo pa siguro mangyari yun,” she said. (RL)
