Has June Mar Fajardo finally broken out of his personal slump?

If his performance against the Star Hotshots was to be the gauge, the answer should be yes.

The reigning league MVP recorded his sixth 20-20 game, scoring 21 points and hauling down 20 boards in San Miguel’s 100-89 win over the Hotshots on Sunday.

It was the Beermen’s third straight win after a 0-2 start, and the Cebuano giant hopes that better days are indeed ahead for the squad.

“Sana tuloy-tuloy na yung panalo namin. Sana mag-diretso na yung magandang nilalaro namin,” he said.

Fajardo also noted that the squad made the most of its one week break as they brace for a tough stretch where they play Barako Bull and Barangay Ginebra in the following week, saying, “Malaking bagay yung pahinga kasi sa next days, sunod-sunod na yung laro eh.”

The 6-foot-10 big man also believes that the Beermen have made significant strides in fixing their early conference struggles, with the players in constant communication with each other.

“Lagi kami naguusap sa dugout at sa practice,” said Fajardo. “Kailangan lang naming mag-execute ng plays. Di lang basta-basta mag-give up, at dapat i-share yung bola.” (RL)
