Melton happy to see buddy Tautuaa prosper in Gilas stint
While Mo Tautuaa is slowly building his name with his Gilas Pilipinas stint in the Jones Cup 2015, one fellow player is ecstatic to see close friend thrive in the international spotlight.
Justin Melton couldn’t be prouder of Tautuaa’s feat of making it to the national team pool even before playing a single game in the PBA.
“This is huge for him, to get his feet wet on such a big stage.”

“This will definitely give him confidence going into his PBA career. With the unmatched support of our country, experienced players and coaching staff, with the system surrounding him, he will soon get comfortable,” the Star guard added.
Melton, who played with Tautuaa in the ABL with the Westports Malaysia Dragons, has no doubt that the top pick of the 2015 Gatorade PBA Rookie Draft has what it takes to make a mark in the league.
“Once Mo gets comfortable with the system, he’ll have the confidence and I’m sure that what you have there is a superstar in the making,” he said.
Tautuaa, who is seeing action in the Jones Cup in Taiwan, is so far performing as advertised.
And in Gilas’ 75-60 conquest of Japan on Wednesday, the Fil-Tongan big man recorded his best output so far with 10 points, six rebounds, and two assists highlighted by two thunderous jams.
Tautuaa’s impressive outings is making Melton excited for a future face off with his buddy.
“The way we are, we compete always at everything. When we are on the court, we’re sure to get each other’s 100 and neither of us would have it any other way.”
