Abueva shrugs off Arana’s elbow: ‘Wala naman yun’
Calvin Abueva said he doesn’t have any axe to grind with Ryan Araña after their physical exchange on Wednesday.
“Ok lang, wala naman yun,” he said.
Abueva was on the receiving end of an elbow from Araña which downed him at the end of the first quarter of Alaska’s duel against San Miguel. The sequence resulted to Araña’s ejection, costing the Beermen a valuable defensive cog for the rest of the game.

“At least yung trabaho ko, nagawa ko. Di ko iniisip na sinadya yun, ang akin nanalo kami sa game na to,” he said at the end of Alaska’s 103-97 win. He
finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists.
Being the physical player himself, Abueva said that he understands what had transpired and cleared that he and Araña remain friends off the court.
“Trabaho lang. Lagi naman kami nagkikita nyan eh. Friends kami nyan. Sa court, di lang maiiwasan yung ganun.”

He said the main focus for Alaska at the moment is to finish strong as the Aces are on a tie for the second spot at 8-2 with a chance for the two coveted outright semifinals spots.
“Yung next game, di namin pwede pabayaan. Kailangan namin pumunta ng number one o number two,” Abueva said.
