DEADLINES FOR 2015 PBA ROOKIE DRAFT APPLICANTS SET
The Philippine Basketball Association has started accepting applicants for the 2015 PBA Rookie Draft.
Applicants must be at least 21 years old to be eligible for the Draft. College graduates who have yet to turn 21 may likewise apply.
Fil-foreign players have until June 30 to submit their application and all documentary requirements. Aside from the documents needed to prove their citizenship, Fil-foreign rookie hopefuls must also satisfy the D-League residency requirement. They must have played at least seven games each in two D-League conferences.
Local-born players have until August 7 to turn in their application and requirements.
D-League residency requirements for local-born applicants is at least seven games in one conference.
“I’ve seen a lot of new talents in the D-League so I’m pretty sure that the coming PBA season will be a lot more exciting. I think by this time, some PBA teams have already identified their prospects,” PBA commissioner Chito Salud said.
Salud added that league member teams will get the preliminary list of prospective Fil-foreign draftees for screening on July 6. Contestability period will be from July 7 to August 6.
The league will release the final list of candidates for the Draft on August 20, three days before the PBA Rookie Draft on August 23 at Robinson’s Place Manila.
