Arwind Santos is now heating up in time for the playoffs.

Since missing the first four games of the PBA Governors Cup after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his knee, the 6-4 Santos has started to hit top form.

In fact, he was back to hot-shooting, rebounding and shot-blocking ways during San Miguel’s grudge encounter with old nemesis Rain or Shine on Saturday.

With SMB missing the services of combo guard Alex Cabagnot (viral infection) and import Mike Singletary under the weather, Santos took charge, registering conference-high numbers of 20 points, nine rebounds and four blocks as San Miguel Beer beat Rain or Shine, 82-75.

FEATURED STORIES

It was easily the best game for the former Far Eastern University forward, who is raring to contribute to the Beermen’s title-retention bid in the season-ending conference.

Santos’ all-around effort earned him the Accel-PBA Press Corps Player of the Week for the period of Sept. 6-11, beating Alaska’s Chris Banchero and Calvin Abueva, TNT’s Jayson Castro and rookies Scottie Thompson of Ginebra and Garvo Lanete of NLEX.

The win gave the Beermen a twice-to-beat advantage heading into the playoffs as they improved to 7-3 overall.

Santos also helped SMB gain some measure of revenge against ROS, the same team that dealt the Beermen a 3-1 semis defeat during the Commissioner’s Cup.
