After being the latest victim to fall victim to Kia Carnival’s upset rampage, Talk ‘N Text coach Jong Uichico sure is aching to get his boys back in action as they gun for the solo lead Sunday in the 2015 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Though the recent defeat dropped them to their second defeat this conference, the Tropang Texters are still on top of the muck, and a win would momentarily erase the memories of the shock defeat to Manny Pacquiao and the Carnival and put them at the top of the standings, in front of current co-leaders Meralco and Rain or Shine.
But in doing so, they have to first get past GlobalPort.
Game time is at 3:00 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Batang Pier, meanwhile, are looking for their third straight win and move out of a four-way logjam at fourth place, along with Barangay Ginebra, Purefoods, and Barako Bull – all carrying identical 4-3.
Uichico’s wards must still be on top of their game, as they might still be having nightmares from Terrence Romeo’s wild shooting night the last time these two squads faced off back in the Philippine Cup. GlobalPort notched its first win over Talk ‘N Text last conference with the sophomore guard going for 30 points on a 5-of-9 shooting from three-point region.
Batang Pier coach Eric Gonzales challenged his charges to up the ante, telling them, “Di pwedeng ok-ok lang. Dapat every game, go hard tayo. Dapat parating andun yung effort.”
Both teams are sure to go all-out on Sunday, as they aim to go to the All-Star break on a positive note. (RL)
