It’s either Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s last game in the season or the Kings will be fighting for the last berth in the PBA Governors’ Cup postseason play.
That’s the scenario as the Gin Kings play the out-of-it-all NLEX side in the last game of the Governors’ Cup one-round-robin eliminations at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Wednesday.
A large part of Ginebra’s playoff hopes hinges on the result of the Kia-Meralco tiff at 4:15 p.m.
Then the Gin Kings will need to beat the Road Warriors in their 7 p.m. tussle.
A victory by Meralco hands Talk n Text the eighth and last slot in the quarterfinals, eliminating Kia and Barangay Ginebra.
A win by Kia, meanwhile, creates a four-way tie from seventh to 10 spots among the Carnival, the Bolts, the Tropang Texters and the Kings.
In this scenario, the Bolts claim the seventh slot on a superior quotient. The eighth spot goes to whoever will get the better quotient between Kia and Ginebra.
But whatever the scenario is, the Kings are expected to come out and give their best in chase of a closing 5-6 win-loss card.
The same can be expected of the Road Warriors who will be out for a 4-7 mark.
The Kings hung on in the battle for the quarters in walloping the Barako Bull Energy, 120-98, last week.
“It’s all about energy and effort. Yung hustle namin given by Eman (Monfort), (John) Brondial, (Dave) Marcelo and (Orlando) Johnson especially when they zoned us was a big thing. We’re hoping we give the same energy against NLEX,” said coach Frankie Lim. (SB)
