Minus two players in Rafi Reavis and Allein Maliksi, the Star Hotshots are still pumped up and determined to get going, seeking victory No. 2 as they take on the Globalport Batang Pier in the Smart Bro-PBA Philippine Cup at the MOA Arena in Pasay City Friday night.
The Hotshots ride the momentum of their 86-78 conquest of the Barangay Ginebra Kings Sunday as they tangle with the Batang Pier and their super guards at7 p.m.
“We’re facing a team that has two of the more explosive guards in the league. We have to make sure we contain them if we want to be successful,” said Star coach Jason Webb.
The Hotshots intend to put premium on defense especially as they have lost two key personnel.
Reavis dislocated his left index finger in their game against the Gin Kings. He will be out for eight to 10 weeks.
The Batang Pier, meanwhile, will be out to bounce back from an 86-97 loss to the San Miguel Beermen in Davao City Sunday.
Despite a crippled lineup, the Hotshots are favored against the Batang Pier.
James Yap and his teammates are 11-1 up versus Globalport in their head-on duels. (SB)
