PBA Draft Focus: Barako Bull Energy
Picks: (Second Round) No. 8, No. 10
Owning an already crowded lineup from top to bottom, the least of Barako Bull’s concerns could be adding another pair of newbies to its line-up.
Expecting the Energy to deal their second round selections won’t really be much of a surprise. But if they do decide to hold on to those pair of late second-rounders, the best option for them is to nab the best talent still on the board, preferably a wing or a big man.
Aside from JC Intal and Dylan Ababou, coach Koy Banal no longer has any threat from the perimeter.
The center position likewise needs an upgrade with Jake Pascual, Rico Maierhofer, and Justin Chua all playing undersized in the paint.
Despite trading Joseph Yeo, Barako Bull’s guard rotation remain full of talent with guys like RR Garcia, newly acquired Brian Heruela, and Chico Lanete alternating in duty.
But if there’s something the Energy have done in the recent drafts, it’s to surprise the crowd during draft day. And it wouldn’t be a surprise if they do that once again this year.
